3.23.2 W e l d i n g
The surfaces of parts being welded shall be free of scale,

permanent deformation or failure when the parts connected by the welds are
s u b j e c t e d t o p r o o f a n d s e r v i c e l o a d i n g . W e l d i n g shall be in compliance with ASNE
Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, Section IX.
3.23.3 Bolted connection. All boltholes still be accurately punched or
drilled and shall have the burrs removed. Washers or lockwashers shall be
provided where necessary. A l l b o l t s , n u t s , and screws shall be correctly torqued
and shall have full thread engagement. Matching thread areas securing bolts or
capscrews shall be of sufficient strength to withstand the tensile strength of the
bolt.
