The rack shall be installed on the compressor so
that the hose shall not come in contact with any component of the
compressor subject to high temperature or abrasion.
3.24.5 Air-receiver tank.
The capacity of the air-receiver tank
shall be not less than 20 gallons and shall be constructed in
accordance with the ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Code, section
VIII . The receiver shall bear the ASME stamp and no welding or
other activation shall be permitted after the receiver has been
certified.
Unless otherwise specified (see 6.2), the air-receiver
tank fittings shall include a spring-loaded pressure relief valve, a
globe discharge valve, a drain cock, and a O- to 300-psig pressure
gauge having 10 psig or smaller increments.
The air-receiver tanks
shall include a pressure relief valve conforming to ASME Boiler and
Pressure Vessel Code.
3.24.6 Transportability.
The compressor shall be transportable
by highway, rail, and air and must be capable of withstanding the
impact forces encountered in shipment without damage or permanent
deformation.
The compressor shall be equipped with tiedown and
lifting provisions.
3.24.6.1 Highway transport.
When the class 4 compressor is
loaded on a semitrailer/tractor, it shall meet the highway permit
limits of all states.
3.24.6.2 Rail transportability.
The class 4, size 15 cfm
compressor shall be rail transportable in CONUS and NATO countries
without -restrictions. When loaded on a 50-inch (127 cm) high rail
car, the compressor shall have a dimensional profile within the AAR
outline diagram and the Gabarit International de Chargement (GIC) or
PPI , as specified in MIL-STD-1366.
The compressor shall be capable
of withstanding shock loads resulting from rail impact testing
specified in 4.5.2.21.1 without failure, damage, or permanent
deformation.
